WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
In this practical workshop presented by the International Dyslexia Association of Massachusetts for First Literacy, participants will learn what dyslexia is, common signs of dyslexia, dyslexia in English Language Learners, and what teachers can do to support adult learners with dyslexia.  This workshop is intended for teachers of adult literacy learners..  

PRESENTERS:
Dinan Messiqua, MA, M.Ed, 
is a special education consultant with over 15 years experience working in public and private schools.  She currently coaches parents navigating the special education system and consults with teachers and school administrators.  Previously Dinan was a special educator in a district-wide language-based program and coached general education teachers.  She has also taught language arts and provided OG tutoring in an independent school for dyslexic students. www.dinanmessiqua.com 

Angela Ayre is a licensed speech-language pathologist and literacy specialist with over 20 years experience including community-based adult literacy programs, hospital clinics, and private clinics.  Angela has expertise in spoken and written language, bilingualism, and the diagnosis and treatment of developmental language disorders and dyslexia.  Currently in private practice, she specializes in engaging learners of all ages in building language, literacy, or executive function skills and strategies for increased success at school or work.  www.angelaayre.com
