Working with adult students with different background knowledge and aptitudes is always a challenge.  In this two-part workshop, we will explore some strategies and tools for differentiating your HiSET/GED curriculum in order to challenge and engage students while giving them the knowledge and skills they need to earn their high school equivalency diploma.

Goals and Objectives for Session 1:
~ Identify assessment strategies that can help spot HiSET/GED skill and knowledge gaps.
~ Evaluate tools that can be used in 4-6 Grade Level Equivalent and 6+ Grade Level Equivalent classrooms.
~ Brainstorm tools and strategies that can be used in your programming.

Goals and Objectives for Session 2:
~ Reflect on and share the tools and strategies you tried out in your classroom.
~ Explore more resources and tools for diffentiated instruction.
~ Create a plan for integrating more differentiated instruction into your curriculum.

Participants are asked to commit to both sessions. Space is limited, so register early!

Kelly Folsom formerly taught high school in Washington D.C. and Memphis, Tennessee and currently teaches pre-High School Equivalency, HSE, and college transition classes for X-Cel Education in Boston.  He has designed curriculum for social studies, reading, writing, and math classes, and has develped contextualized career-focused units for HSE students interested in criminal justice, business, culinary, and health careers.
