First Literacy Workshop Registration (single session via Zoom)
Afghan Refugees and the International Institute of New England

This workshop will cover the International Institute of New England's Afghan resettlement program plan and how the community can get involved. IINE anticipates welcoming more than 600 persecuted people to Massachusetts and New Hampshire in the next 12 months, including at least 425 Afghan evacuees. These individuals will need case management, direct financial support, English language training, and more.
Learning Objectives: Participants will
- understand Afghan resettlement;
- be familiarized with available public beneftis and programs;
- understand the challenges facing the evacuees and the supporting programs.
Anca Moraru is the Managing Director at the IINE-Boston. She's been with the Institute since 2008. In her role, she is responsible for overseeing all financial and programmatic aspects of the resettlement, case management, employment and education programs. She started at IINE as case manager and worked directly with newly arrived refugees, helping them obtain housing, receive appropriate services and integrate into the U.S.
This workshop is free to staff of all Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL Programs.
