Workshop Description:
Interested in raising funds for a project but not sure how to?
Tired of submitting proposals and getting turned down?
In this workshop, you'll examine the overall proposal process and learn how to identify appropriate funders and write persuasive proposals.
Participants will be able to:
- List ways to identify appropriate potential funders
- Explain why to ditch the jargon and use the active voice in proposals
- Describe why a work plan for your project should guide the development of your proposal
- Identify common problems proposal readers complain about and how to avoid them
Presenters:
Barbara Garner retired from a fulfilling 30-year long career in adult literacy in Massachusetts and internationally. She wrote winning proposals that garnered funds from state, national, and international funders as well as from private foundations. In addition, she has been a proposal reader numerous times-- an experience that is most useful for anyone who wants to write a winning proposal.
Amy Letteney has worked in the nonprofit world for more than twenty years, at both grant making and grant seeking organizations. She is the Development Director at First Literacy, responsible for the organization's foundation program, and has successfully won awards for program, project, capital and general operating funding.
This workshop is free to staff of all Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL Programs.
