First Literacy 2-Part Workshop Registration

The Struggle is Real: Self Care and Balance for Educators
Wednesday, November 17
3:30 - 5:00 PM, and
Wednesday, December 1, 2021
1:00 - 2:30 PM via Zoom

Workshop Description:

Working in education is meaningful, important, rewarding… and hard. Recent events have only exacerbated the challenges faced by teachers, advisors, and educational leaders. To do our best work and sustain our efforts, we must find ways to manage the challenges, amplify the positives, and maintain our energy. (Please note: The presenter will count on your attendance at both sessions.)

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to

  • describe elements of their work that are energizing:
  • identify and reflect on one specific challenge they are facing;
  • list at least three actions they can take to maintain their energy.

Presenter:

Allison Reid is a math teacher, multi-job ABE professional; writer-trainer-consultant in her “free” time. She's a new mom, a brain-geek and life-long learner; a gardener and novice forager. She believes in reflective practice, her students, and color-coded spreadsheets.

This workshop is free to staff of all Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL Programs.
