Workshop Description:
This workshop will address the specific needs of your work setting in developing volunteer materials. We will develop a toolbox for training and mentoring volunteers. We will participate in role plays, group brainstorming, paired production, individual needs assessments and lectures. You will have access to a host of strategies for working with your volunteers. 

Workshop Learning Objectives - Participants will:

  • Learn skills to develop a volunteer need lists (think needs assessments) one for yourself and one for volunteers. 

  • Produce a volunteer preparation check list.  

  • Learn skills to train and mentor their volunteers. 

Presenter:
Sandy Simpson is a retired, award winning, Boston History High School Teacher. Since her retirement from teaching she has worked with a variety of non profits both teaching and running volunteer programs. She is currently a researcher at Jewish Vocational Service and McLean Hospital. 

This workshop is free to staff of all Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL Programs.
