Helping Students Prepare for and Navigate College

The transition to college can be daunting for any student, but especially for adults who have been out of traditional school for a while or are entering a U.S. school for the first time. This workshop seeks to provide educators with the knowledge and tools needed to empower students who are transitioning to college.

Workshop Learning Objectives:

  • Undertsand the biggest challenges college instructors and advisors see in students and how to prepare your students

  • Learn how to help your students navigate the different departments on campus and who to go to for what

Presenter:

Annie Sferrazza is the current Program Director of First Literacy and is very passionate about education. She has a background in teaching ESL and career-readiness to both adults and high schoolars, as well as providing academic and career advising at the university level. She has seen firsthand the struggles that students face when entering college and seeks to better prepare students and those who support them.

This workshop is free to staff of all Massachusetts non-profit ABE and ESOL Programs.
